A Photo-Retrospective Amid Snowfall

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 11:25 pm

Well, we’ve had our first real snowfall of the season and again it seems like a good time to reflect on the warmer days of summer.  This is going to be a huge photo retrospective so let your eyes enjoy the images of warm summer fun – especially if there’s snow on the ground outside where you are.

At the sprinkler park – always a good time with my buddies!

A great day at Nippo Lake – so much fun I only have one picture!

Fire!

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 12:06 am

The other day, Daddy went out and bought the coolest thing ever..  a fire pit!  It’s not as cool as Papa’s, which is built right into the ground with big rocks, but it still does the trick.  I kept asking Daddy why we couldn’t use our rocks to build a nice fire pit, but he said our rocks weren’t big enough.  I think this is a nice compromise.

IMG_9654 IMG_9655
To show my appreciation I helped out in tending to our very first fire.

IMG_9660
Once I had it going pretty good we all sat around and enjoyed ourselves, ate some dinner, and when it got dark..

IMG_9661 IMG_9662
..we roasted marshmallows and made s’mores, of course!

Gala Fireworks

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 12:54 am

Wow, this post is very late in coming, but the fireworks video will make you feel like it was totally worth waiting for.  Trust me.

IMG_9090 IMG_9098
On July 3rd Needham hosted its Gala Fireworks in celebration of Independence Day.  We showed up early and nabbed some great seats with Uncle Berhan, Auntie Karen, and Karynna.  I had to pass the time somehow so I blew lots of bubbles and tried to pop as many as I could.

Blowing and popping bubbles oneself turned out to be a lot harder than I thought.

It was also lots of fun to just chase one another around on the synthetic turf.

IMG_9102 IMG_9103
As it got dark, we lit up our flexible glow sticks that Uncle Berhan bought for us.  He’s so nice, unlike Daddy who blinded me with the camera flash.  I had a great time spinning the glow stick while waiting for the main attraction to begin.

IMG_9109 IMG_9112
Lots of well-deserved oohs and ahhs!

IMG_9121 IMG_9122 IMG_9131
So high in the sky!

IMG_9134 IMG_9136
And beautiful!

The big finale!

Fireworks just don’t seem complete without some great American music.  Here’s the John Philip Sousa band playing The Stars and Stripes Forever from 1906.  I hope you can enjoy it almost as much as I did!  God bless America.

Kayaking

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 10:42 pm

Probably the coolest thing we did here in Schroon lake at Nana and Papa’s house was to go out on the lake in Kayaks!  We went twice, but only took pictures on our first outing.

Here we are just starting out.  Daddy is teaching me the basics.

IMG_9269
It wasn’t long before we were off and cruising out on the lake.

And it wasn’t long before Daddy had me rowing him all around the place.  Boy that was quick!  I think he planned this all along, but I didn’t mind.

IMG_9279
We rowed out into the middle of the narrows together to check out the shallow water and the buoys.

IMG_9274
Papa checked out all the neighborhood beaches to see how things were shaping up around the lake shore.

I transferred over to Mommy’s kayak and just for fun we chased after Papa pretending to crash into him and splash him.  We let him go, because we’re so nice.

IMG_9297
Mommy and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the setting sun together.  It was such a nice time.

Mommy put me to work, too, and I practically rowed her all the way back to shore.  That just proves how much I love her!

IMG_9306
Once we all got back I helped Papa and Daddy bring the all the kayaks back to our generous neighbors who loaned them to us for the week.

I basically carried most of the weight myself.

Bubbles!

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 6:35 pm

I’ve been playing so hard here that I often need a good scrub-down at the end of the day and there’s no better place for that than in my Papa’s jacuzzi!

IMG_2770
I was quickly overrun by bubbles I had to find some way to manage them all.  Even this big cup wasn’t enough to contain them all, and they seemed to just keep on coming.

IMG_2777
Look!  I’m nearly drowning in bubbles.

IMG_2780
And my chicken – who is an excellent swimmer, by the way – needed to be rescued several times.

IMG_2781
We grew bubble hair together.  What fun!

IMG_2792
Daddy asked if he could jump in, but I told him there was no room – clearly!  Take a look.  Where would he fit?

IMG_2800
After an hour or so, it was time to clean up the tub and the tile.  That was even more fun, to be honest, but don’t tell anyone that.

Gone Fishin’

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 5:49 pm

The weather was looking like rain for the late afternoon, so we got out there early to do some fishing.

IMG_9222
Papa handed me a brand spanking new Rocket Fishing Rod to use!  I was sure this was going to be so awesome.

IMG_9224
It seemed a bit complicated at first, so I stopped to review the switches and controls.  Yeah, I was going to need some help with this thing for sure.

IMG_9225
I think I made the moose a little nervous here, holding what looks like a pretty formidable weapon.  Heehee.

[I still can’t figure out why this moose’s shirt says “GO” on it, especially when it’s red – doesn’t that mean “stop?”  Nana is pretty fond of the moose, so I didn’t ask any questions.]

IMG_9226
The first catch of the day!

IMG_9229
Another one!  Papa let me reel one in with his rod.

IMG_9233
Go Papa!

IMG_9235
I let Daddy help me with this one.

Here’s a feisty one!

IMG_9254
My Mommy is so cool to come down to the dock and fish with me.

IMG_9257
I gave her a few pointers and we had a great time!

Here she is benefiting from my fine instruction.  Go Mommy!

Schroon Lake, NY – at the beach

IMG_9192
We had such great weather on our first day here at Nana and Papa’s house, so we decided to spend the afternoon at the beach.  Papa supplied lots of sand tools and put me to work.  It took a while just to figure out what everything was and did, but eventually Daddy and I managed to build something.

Here I am hard at work!  Why is water so heavy?

IMG_9211
Daddy called this thing a “duck slide” but there wasn’t a whole lot of sliding going on.  I quickly figured out how to fix that, tho.

Go ducks, go!  I’m pretty sure this is what Daddy had in mind all along.

IMG_9218
I learned a lot about erosion that day.

IMG_9220
After all that hard work I was rewarded with some yummy grapes.

IMG_9221
Oh yeah..  What a productive and fun day!

Our Travel Log

Filed under: Uncategorized — jadensailer @ 9:18 am

Hi, this is Jaden.  Since I turned two I haven’t blogged a whole lot.  I used to have a pretty active blog, but I guess things just got busy and my parents were preparing for number two (Markus, the owner of this blog).  Anyhow, I’m back in the action now and my little brother has opened up his blog so we can share it and post lots of stuff together.  My first contribution (besides this little post, of course) is our travel log.  Things are pretty tight in the old VW these days, but we still plan to travel a whole lot together!  Check back in once in a while to see where we’ve been and where we’re going.  Cheers!
